MILTON, Ga., Oct. 19, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Jay V. Patel, DMD, MS, orthodontist, and Justin Chong, DMD, pediatric dentist, of Georgia Orthodontics & Children's Dentistry have been named among Atlanta Magazine's 2026 Top Dentists. Dr. Patel was recognized in the orthodontics category and Dr. Chong in the pediatric dentistry category of the annual list, which appeared in the magazine's April 2026 issue. Both doctors were also named to the list in 2025.
Atlanta Magazine's Top Dentists list is compiled with Professional Research Services, which surveys dental professionals across specialties, including general and pediatric dentistry, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics and endodontics, asking them to identify the dental professionals they consider the best in the Atlanta area. Dentists named to the list are also screened for the standing of their licenses with the Georgia Department of Community Health.
Dr. Patel is an orthodontist who completed specialty training in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics after dental school. Born in London, England, he moved to the Atlanta area as a teenager and graduated from high school in Alpharetta. He earned a Bachelor of Science in business management from the Georgia Institute of Technology and his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Temple University School of Dentistry in 2009. He later returned to Temple to complete a Master of Science in oral biology and his specialty certificate in orthodontics, and has practiced exclusively as an orthodontist since 2013, treating children, teens and adults.
Dr. Chong is a pediatric dentist and Atlanta native who grew up in Norcross and Johns Creek and graduated from Chattahoochee High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in industrial and systems engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology before pursuing dentistry, and received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Medical College of Georgia. He then completed a two-year pediatric dentistry residency at Temple University Hospital – Episcopal Division in Philadelphia, where he served as Chief Resident, before returning home to Atlanta to practice.
Georgia Orthodontics & Children's Dentistry brings pediatric dentistry and orthodontics together in the same practice, with offices in Milton and Lawrenceville. Because the pediatric dentists and orthodontists share records and communicate directly, families can coordinate care for several children in one place, and younger patients are often already comfortable with the office by the time they are ready for orthodontic treatment. Orthodontic services include early treatment, braces, clear braces and clear aligners such as Invisalign, Spark and Angel Aligners, while the pediatric team provides first dental visits beginning at age 1, preventive and restorative care, dental emergencies, and nitrous oxide and in-office IV sedation administered by a board-certified anesthesiologist at the Lawrenceville office.
"Being named one of Atlanta's Top Dentists again this year is a meaningful honor, because it comes from colleagues in our own profession," said Dr. Patel. "I endeavor to treat each patient like a family member, and our practice is set up so that families can see a pediatric dentist and an orthodontist who already know their history. Many of the children Dr. Chong cares for as toddlers become my orthodontic patients years later, and that continuity is something we value deeply. It is a privilege to share this recognition with him."
"I grew up in this community, so caring for children here is personal for me," said Dr. Chong. "I chose pediatric dentistry because I love working with kids, and my goal is to help them have healthy smiles now while building habits they carry into adulthood. I am grateful to the families who trust us with their children's care and to our team, who make that possible every day."
