Mitti Liebersohn joins Avison Young as President of New York City office
Highly regarded industry leader will work with Tri-State President Arthur Mirante to expand firm's commercial real estate services footprint throughout city
NEW YORK CITY, April 13, 2015 /CNW/ - Mark E. Rose, Chair and CEO of Avison Young, the world's fastest-growing commercial real estate services firm, announced today that A. Mitti Liebersohn has been named Principal and President of the company's New York City office. Liebersohn will join Avison Young Principal and Tri-State President Arthur Mirante to grow the firm's presence in one of the world's leading economic centers.
Recognized nationally as one of the commercial real estate industry's most accomplished professionals, Liebersohn brings to Avison Young more than 30 years of experience representing many of the nation's premier corporations. During his career, he has completed transactions totaling in excess of 25 million square feet (sf).
Most recently, Liebersohn served as Vice Chairman at Jones Lang LaSalle, where he oversaw numerous national account portfolios. Among the companies he has represented are New York Life Insurance, Forbes, AXA Equitable Life Insurance Company, Deloitte LLP, Playboy Enterprises, JetBlue, Barr Labs and Watson Pharmaceutical. In addition, he has assisted in the leasing of major Manhattan office buildings, including 100 Park Avenue, 475 Lexington Avenue, 575 Lexington Avenue, 600 Lexington Avenue, 237 Park Avenue, 400 Park Avenue, 10 East 53rd Street and 3 Columbus Circle.

Prior to joining Jones Lang LaSalle in 2011, Liebersohn served as a Vice Chairman at Cushman & Wakefield, where he was named one of the company's top 20 brokers internationally for 15 consecutive years. Throughout his career, he has been instrumental in assisting many of the nation's premier corporations in negotiating complex leasing transactions, and has demonstrated an expertise in the development and implementation of portfolio leasing strategies.

Liebersohn is a previous chair of the Board of Governors of the Young Men's/Women's Real Estate Association of New York, and was a recipient of the Real Estate Board of New York's prestigious Young Real Estate Man of the Year Award. He currently serves on the advisory board of the Steven L. Newman Real Estate Institute of Baruch College, the board of directors of the Comfort Zone, Ganley Foundation, and is currently on the chairman's council of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York, Inc.

Avison Young has secured a number of high-profile assignments since entering the New York City market. These assignments include being named by The Moinian Group as the exclusive office leasing agent for its 3 Hudson Boulevard – a state-of-the-art, new construction 1.8 million-sf world-class tower that will rise 66 stories in Manhattan's vibrant Hudson Yards district; and acting as office leasing agent for the Paramount Building at 1501 Broadway – an iconic 33-story, 788,897-sf tower in Midtown's Times Square district, for which Avison Young is currently advising ownership on a comprehensive reinvestment strategy.
The firm has also completed several significant transactions since establishing its New York City presence, including representing United Cerebral Palsy in the $135-million sale of the non-profit's former headquarters at 122 East 23rd Street in Manhattan, facilitating a 50,000-sf new office lease for Tremor Video at the Paramount Building, and representing Winthrop-University Hospital in its lease to open Manhattan's first CyberKnife center at 150 Amsterdam Avenue.
Avison Young opened its first New York office in April 2012 in New York City, with Mirante joining as Principal and Tri-State President. The company opened its New Jersey office in September 2012, followed by a Long Island office in August 2013 and a Fairfield/Westchester office in June 2014.
Liebersohn's hiring comes on the heels of Avison Young announcing that is has significantly expanded its presence in New York City with the relocation of its Manhattan office to a full floor – totaling 40,000 sf – at 1166 Avenue of the Americas.
Over the past six years, Avison Young has grown from 11 to 66 offices and from 300 to more than 1,700 real estate professionals in Canada, the U.S. and Europe.
