The October 11 program, GUNDAM SEED FREEDOM Screening & Talk Show at the Museum of the Moving Image, opened at 6:30 PM with a talk show hosted by MC Mike Nishimura. Members of the press were in attendance alongside fans who traveled to the Museum for the evening.
Shida joined SUNRISE inc. (Current Bandai Namco Filmworks INC.) in 2001 and worked in setting production on MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM SEED DESTINY before serving as Planning Producer on titles including Gundam Build Fighters and MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM SEED FREEDOM, and was also involved in the stage play adaptation of MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM 00 as well as GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA, the project built around the moving life-size Gundam in Yokohama.
During the talk show, Shida looked back on the journey of the series from DESTINY to FREEDOM, explaining how production materials for the anime, including mobile suit designs, are developed. She also shared how MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM SEED FREEDOM came to life nearly twenty years after DESTINY.
The program then turned to the newest chapter in the series. The teaser trailer for MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM SEED FREEDOM ZERO, first unveiled days earlier at New York Comic Con, screened for the room, and Shida pointed audiences toward what the film sets out to show: how the world changed in the years between DESTINY and FREEDOM, what each character lived through in that span, and the mobile suit battle sequences the production has put particular effort into.
"We were able to take advantage of many new technologies developed over the past two decades to create exciting and dynamic mobile suit action. I hope fans will pay close attention to how these new animation techniques have been brought to life in this film."
The talk show was followed at 7:00 PM by a screening of MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM SEED FREEDOM in Japanese with English subtitles. The event continued on Monday, October 12 with a 4:00 PM screening of the film.
Closing the talk, Shida shared a message with the fans in the United States who have followed the SEED series and the Gundam series over the past two decades, saying:
"Without the Gundam fans, we might not have been able to see FREEDOM ZERO become an actual anime. This has become a reality because FREEDOM was loved by fans."
MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM SEED FREEDOM ZERO arrives in theaters across North America in February 2027.
