MobileMakersEdu, an Apple Professional Learning Provider, Honors 2019 Screencast Contest Winners

BARRINGTON, Ill., Feb. 26, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- MobileMakersEdu, an app coding course for high school students, congratulates the 2019 Global Screencast Contest Winners. First, second and third place awards went respectively to to Aaron Still and Ben Amiel from Waukesha North High School in Wisconsin, Conrad Kusion from Elk Grove High School in Illinois and Graham Sands from Lyons Township High School in Illinois. Student teams were recognized for their screencasts by a panel of five IOS developer judges from Allstate, Cayenne Clothing, Transeo, M1 Finance and Ovia Health.

The MobileMakersEdu program delivers an authentic workplace experience to high school students who are challenged to develop up to 8 iOS apps that grow in complexity throughout the year. Unlike traditional classroom environments, students drive their own learning with teachers serving as guides.Through MobileMakersEdu program, teachers learn Swift, the language used for iOS mobile apps, and continually keep their skills up to date. Due to the comprehensive program, MobileMakersEdu, earned the designation of an Apple Professional Learning Provider.  In addition to creating iOS apps, MobileMakersEdu students participate in competitions such as the Winter Screencast contest and Meet the Makers events at their schools. Events like these allow students to showcase their knowledge in coding while communicating with fellow students and professional developers.

A screencast or demo video is used frequently by software companies. Adding this skill to the experiential educational coding class allows students to learn how to create an essential component in the software industry.

The 2019 MobileMakersEdu Screencast winners are recognized for the following:

Aaron Still and Ben Amiel received the first place prize for developing a screencast to explain how to detect touches in SpriteKit.

Conrad Kusion demonstrated his knowledge on how to use the UIImagePicker Controller during his screencast.

Graham Sands' screencast teaches coders how to customize PickerView to manipulate selected items in his screencast.

MobileMakersEdu congratulates the global Screencast Contest winners, as well as all students who are participating in the MobileMakersEdu program, who are learning skills to better prepare themselves for future success.
