Mobility Ventures Signs MV-1 Canada To Exclusive Distribution Agreement

SOUTH BEND, Ind. and TORONTO, May 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Mobility Ventures LLC, designer and manufacturer of the acclaimed MV-1, has announced the appointment of MV-1 Canada as the exclusive Canadian distributor for the MV-1,the only North American vehicle, purpose-built and designed from the ground up in support of wheelchair users.

Headquartered in South Bend, Ind., Mobility Ventures LLC, is a wholly owned subsidiary of AM General.

The MV-1 is the first factory-built mobility vehicle designed from the ground up to provide accessible transportation to individuals with mobility challenges, commercial fleets, institutions, and municipalities.

Built at AM General's world-class, 675,000 square-foot Commercial Assembly Plant in Mishawaka, Ind., the MV-1 is universally designed, allowing people of all abilities equal access to a quality, safe and inclusive transportation option. It meets all applicable Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (CMVSS)  direct from the factory, with no modifications. Additionally, the MV-1 is more durable and cost effective to own and operate than a traditional retrofitted van or bus. It is dedicated to transporting all passengers; with or without mobility challenges, making it the perfect solution for both consumer and commercial fleet services.

The MV-1 is the only accessible vehicle that meets or exceeds the stringent vehicle guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Canadian CSA D-409 safety standards. The SUV-like vehicle has an easily deployable manual or powered ramp built directly above the frame but below the floor. The ramp extends from the side so wheelchair users can enter from the curb and position themselves in the front passenger location.
