Moneris Selected as Payment Acquirer for Government of Canada

Agreement will see Moneris manage all payment processing for key services both online and onsite at Government service locations

TORONTO, March 19, 2015 /CNW/ - Moneris Solutions Corporation (Moneris), one of North America's largest processors of debit and credit payments today announced that it has been selected as the payment acquirer for the Government of Canada.

Following a competitive process, the Government of Canada selected Moneris as the successful bidder to provide card processing services to federal departments and agencies across Canada. As part of the agreement, Moneris will process all Interac® Debit, VISA®, MasterCard® and American Express® payments for Government of Canada services.

Approximately 38 federal government departments and agencies accept credit and debit cards at different locations across Canada. Through the agreement, Moneris will provide all Point of Sale (POS) devices as well as manage all card payment transactions for various government services offices.

In line with the government mandate, Moneris will work to ensure that cost recovery services provide the best possible solution at an affordable cost to Canadian taxpayers while continually helping the federal government evolve its payment processing solutions to keep pace with the ever-changing payment technology landscape.
