SALT LAKE CITY, June 30, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The final day of Summer X Games is a wrap! Monster Energy congratulates its team of action sports athletes on a strong performance on the last day of X Games Salt Lake City 2025. On Sunday, Monster Energy riders claimed a total of six medals (three gold, two silver, one bronze) in three contest events at Utah State Fairpark and Event Center.

The BMX Dirt Best Trick witnessed X Games history with 31-year-old Ryan Williams from Sunshine Coast, Australia, landing the world's first triple backflip on dirt for the gold medal. He was joined on the podium by 21-year-old Monster Army rider Kaden Stone from Lake Elsinore, California, claiming silver. The never-been-done tricks continued in Skateboard Street Best Trick, where 19-year-old Filipe Mota from Patos de Minas, Brazil, landed a Caballerial kickflip backside tailslide for the gold medal. His closest competition was 30-year-old Nyjah Huston from Laguna Beach, California, claiming silver with a brand-new rail trick.

Rounding out an epic weekend, the SONIC Dave Mirra BMX Park Best Trick saw 30-year-old Kevin Peraza from Tucson, Arizona, land a never-been-done tailwhip wall ride transfer for the gold medal. Also stoking the crowd, 24-year-old Bryce Tryon from Lodi, California, claimed bronze with a technical banger.

BMX Dirt Best Trick: Ryan Williams Lands NBD Trick for Gold, Kaden Stone Gets Silver

Difficulty levels reached historic heights in the BMX Dirt Best Trick event. In a 20-minute jam session ranked by most groundbreaking tricks, several riders paid for pushing the boundaries by taking heavy slams.

When all was said and done, one rider made X Games history: In the heated battle, 31-year-old Williams completed a trick never landed on dirt terrain before. A perfectly executed triple backflip over the big jump earned 'R Willy' the gold medal and a spot in the history books.

"I've been practicing at home, it's so scary for me to do. But this is the perfect place to land it. Triple flip for thirty years. Happy birthday, X Games!" said Williams upon claiming the win in BMX Dirt Best Trick, adding: "You know, it's the Dirt Best Trick and it's just so hard to land that trick when the time comes."

The victory marked the second gold medal of the weekend for Williams after winning BMX Dirt on Saturday. Williams now owns 13 X Games medals (11 gold, 2 silver).

Also rising to the podium in the down-to-the-wire final, 21-year-old Monster Army rider Stone rose to the silver medal position. The trick that got the young gun on the podium: A perfectly executed double cork cash roll on the second jump launched Stone into second place.

"Last year, I had a plan to come back this year and land the double cash roll. Big thanks to Nitro Circus for allowing me to go there and get that trick dialed," said Monster Army's Stone in Salt Lake City.

Stone now owns two X Games silver medals.

Monster Energy Men's Skateboard Street Best Trick: Brazil's Filipe Mota Takes Victory with Technical Trick, Nyjah Huston Claims Silver

The next-level performances kept coming in the Monster Energy Men's Skateboard Street Best Trick event. As five of the world's top street riders attacked the course with their most technical moves, only the most rarified combinations had a chance of landing on the podium.

Speaking of rare moves, last year's silver medalist Mota from Brazil dropped into the contest with an ace up his sleeve: On his second attempt, the 19-year-old unveiled a never-been-landed-in-competition Caballerial kickflip backside tailslide fakie on the big rail for the gold medal.

"It feels unreal. I always wanted to do this trick in a contest. And I'm so glad I was able to make it happen. Thank you, Salt Lake City and X Games!" said Mota upon claiming the gold medal on Sunday.

Mota now owns two X Games medals (one gold, one silver).

The Brazilian's closest competition was defending gold medalist Huston, also ready to unleash a brand-new technical trick: A perfectly executed nollie heelflip backside noseblunt slide on the big rail earned Huston the silver medal in Salt Lake City.

Huston now owns 26 X Games medals (15 gold, seven silver, four bronze).

BMX Park Best Trick: Kevin Peraza Battles for First-Ever Trick and Gold Medal, Bryce Tryon Takes Bronze

The first X Games Salt Lake City concluded with a no-holds-barred progression session in the SONIC Dave Mirra BMX Park Best Trick. Eight qualified riders battled on the sprawling park course to put down their most advanced tricks in a 30-minute jam session. And when the dust cleared, Monster Energy claimed the top spot.

Dropping into the session as the defending gold medalist in the discipline from X Games Ventura 2024, 30-year-old Peraza was hungry for a medal after finishing outside the podium in the weekend's BMX events. Putting on a show for the Salt Lake City crowd, Peraza claimed an early lead with a flair whip turndown. But he had more up his sleeve.

On his next attempt, Peraza attempted a never-been-done tailwhip to wall ride transfer from the vert extension to the wall behind the pool deck. But on his first try, he took a heavy slam that put his continued participation in the event in jeopardy. Refusing to let down the fans, Peraza came through on the next attempt with a perfect tailwhip to wallride transfer for the hard-earned gold medal.

"To walk away with gold here after two weekends of X Games is unreal. I took a big slam in one of the hits, but I'm happy to just walk away healthy and get it done. I was not going to slam and not get it done," said Peraza. "It motivates me to step out of my comfort zone and try new things."

Peraza now owns 13 X Games medals (eight gold, three silver, two bronze).

Joining Peraza on the podium in Salt Lake City, 24-year-old Bryce Tryon from Lodi, California, also had the crowd fired up by boosting huge flair variations in the deep end of the park. After rising to the top three with a huge flat 900 flair, Tryon upped the ante on his third attempt: A high-flying 900 turndown flair, stylishly contorted in mid-air, earned Tryon the bronze medal in this high-stakes final.

"Going in, I really knew that was the trick I wanted to do," said Tryon upon earning bronze in SLC.

Tryon now owns two X Games medals (one silver, one bronze).
