Monster Energy Freeski and Snowboard Athletes Claim Victories at the 2025 FIS Snowboard and Freeski World Championships in Switzerland

ENGADIN, Switzerland, March 23, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The FIS World Champions are off to a great start! Monster Energy congratulates its snow sports athletes on claiming victories and podium spots at the 2025 FIS Snowboard and Freeski World Championships in Engadin, Switzerland.
On Friday, 24-year-old Zoi Sadowski-Synnott from Wānaka, New Zealand, claimed the victory in Women's Snowboard Slopestyle in the 16th Snowboard World Championships and earned the title of World Champion for the third time. She was joined on the podium by 20-year-old Kokomo Murase from Gifu, Japan, in second place.
Also on Friday, the 20th Freestyle World Ski Championships saw 24-year-old Birk Ruud from Oslo, Norway, win the title in Men's Freeski Slopestyle for the second time. Also rising to the podium, 26-year-old Alex Hall from Park City, Utah, claimed third place. In the Women's Freeski Slopestyle final, 23-year-old Megan Oldham from Parry Sound, Canada, finished in third place.
From March 18-30, the 2025 FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships in the Engadin region will feature the world elite in snow sports in the Swiss mountains. Sanctioned by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS), the event determined World Champions in Slopestyle across both sports this weekend. Next week, the event will crown winners in Big Air and Halfpipe disciplines.
Snowboard Slopestyle: Monster Energy's Zoi Sadowski-Synnott Claims World Championship
In the Women's Snowboard Slopestyle final Zoi Sadowski-Synnott dropped in as a favorite to win the 16th Snowboard World Championships. She already won the slopestyle world championship twice before and most recently earned the 2024/25 FIS Crystal Globe trophy in the discipline at Flachauwinkl the previous weekend.
Sadowski-Synnott secured the victory on her second run, dropping in as the final rider of the contest but only in fifth place after difficulties on Run 1. Putting it all on the line, she earned 90.15 points for landing a Cab 270 boardslide 270 and frontside blunt 450 stalefish on the rails, followed by switch backside 900 Weddle, frontside 1080 Weddle, backside 1260 melon, and Cab underflip 540 Indy, plus a backside blunt 270 out on the final rail.
"I messed up my first run and put so much pressure on myself coming into that last one, but all the girls are riding so good," said Monster Energy's Sadowski-Synnott. "I was stoked to watch everyone's run, and it just fired me up to land that run. I've never done that in a contest before, so I'm super stoked."
This marks the third FIS World Championship title for Sadowski-Synnott after claiming gold medals at the 2019 and 2021 editions. The Olympic gold medalist returned from injury this season and earned Slopestyle gold at X Games Aspen 2025 and the FIS Crystal Globe in the discipline.
Also rising to the podium Kokomo Murase held the top spot before being bumped into second place by Sadowski-Synnott. A perfect first run featuring a frontside 270 boardslide, frontside blunt 450 stalefish, Cab double 900 lien air, frontside 1080 lien, backside double 1080 Weddle, and frontside lipslide 270 out the final rail earned Murase 87.02 points, and the silver medal. Freeski Slopestyle: Monster Energy's Birk Ruud Earns World Championship Title
The Men's Freeski Slopestyle World Championships saw Birk Ruud taking the prestigious victory for the second time.
On his second run, Ruud put down a left 270 on front swap transfer front 270 out the first rail, switch left 270 on back misty 810 safety out the launch rail, switch left double cork 1800 blunt, switch right double cork 1620 safety, left double bio 1800 mute, right double 1080 safety, and right 180 onto the butter pad into switch right tails over 270 on frontside 270 out for 89.10 points and the victory.
"I have been really hungry and got the passion and love back for skiing, and it's been amazing this season just to focus on the skiing, trying a bunch of different stuff, some urban, some new tricks. Just having fun with it," said Monster Energy's Ruud.
Also rising to the podium Alex Hall claimed third place with a technical run. After losing the handle on his first run, Hall put together a perfect line on Run 2, featuring switch tails over on transfer back 450 out, switch left 270 on backswap 450 out, left double 1440 reverse Japan, right double 1080 bringback 900 safety, switch left double 1440 mute, switch right 540 mute to left cork 720 reverse safety, and left front 360 swap back 270 out for 84.72 points and the bronze medal.
In the Women's Freeski Slopestyle final Megan Oldham finished in third place. On her highest-scoring first run, Oldham landed switch left 270 on backside 270 out, right frontside 450 out, right Cab 900 tailgrab, switch left 900 tailgrab, left double 1080 safety, left alley-oop 720 Japan, and left 270 on frontside 270 out the final rail for 70.63 points and the bronze medal.
