Monster Energy's Amaury Pierron Rides to First Place at 2025 UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup in Lenzerheide

29-Year-Old from Brioude, France Claims Victory in Elite Men Division, Lachie Stevens-McNab from Rotorua, New Zealand Takes Third Place in Round 8 of 2025 Season

LENZERHEIDE, Switzerland, Sept. 21, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The World Cup is in the final stages! Monster Energy congratulates team rider Amaury Pierron on taking first place in the UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, this weekend. In the eighth race of the 2025 season, the 29-year-old from Brioude, France, claimed the victory in an ultra-tight race.

Pierron was joined on the podium by 21-year-old Lachie Stevens-McNab from Rotorua, New Zealand, in third place, finishing less than one second behind the winner.

From September 18-21, the 2025 UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup returned to legendary Bike Kingdom Park in Lenzerheide for the eighth time in the venue's history. Known for scenic trails and a high-energy fan presence, the Lenzerheide stop is a favorite among riders on the annual calendar.

After a season often plagued by inclement weather, the downhill finals on Saturday commenced under blue skies and sunshine, creating near-perfect race conditions on the fast and technical track.

The Elite Men Division final delivered exactly the kind of world-class action and close calls synonymous with Lenzerheide. Dropping in as one of the earlier riders in the finals, Monster Energy's Pierron posted a blazing finish time that his competitors came close to touching but could not surpass.

Living up to his nickname, the 'Flying Frenchman' soared across the track and dominated the leaderboard from the second split onward. After demonstrating his precision in the rocks section and maintaining his momentum through treacherous roots segments, Pierron coasted into the finish with a time of 02:44.699 to claim his first victory of the season.

"To be honest, I was not expecting that win at all," said Amaury Pierron. "It was a struggle from the beginning with mechanical and other issues. I had difficulties finding speed in qualies, and once I made it through, I just wanted to finish a clean run in finals. It's been a hard season coming back from my injury and building back momentum. I'm so stoked to take the win here! Very thankful for all the support. The goal is to keep pushing until the end of the season for more success!" 

This marks the thirteenth World Cup win in Pierron's career and propels him into fourth place in the 2025 UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup season standings with 995 points.

Staying closely on Pierron's heels, Stevens-McNab showed the Swiss fans his best performance of the season. Pushing at high speeds and compensating for lost time with spontaneous gap jumps, Stevens-McNab earned his way onto the podium in the final sections of the race. When the dust settled, the New Zealand racer completed the track in 02:45.513, finishing a mere 0.814 seconds behind the winner to claim third place.

"I've had a pretty good weekend overall here in Lenzerheide," said Lachie Stevens-McNab. "It's my first podium of the year! I pushed a little too hard at the beginning of my run and had a few sketchy moments before toning it back and kept it steady. I feel like I've been building this season back up to form, and I'm stoked to see it paying off! The track was sick, too, so I was having loads of fun out there. Excited to see how I get on for the last two rounds!"
