24-Year-Old Vianna from Santo André, Brazil, Secures Qualification to SLS Super Crown World Championship
PARIS, Oct. 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- What a day for skateboarding! Monster Energy congratulates team rider Giovanni Vianna on claiming second place at the 2025 SLS Paris street skateboarding competition at Stade Roland-Garros in Paris on Saturday. In the competitive Men's Street Skateboarding final at the world-famous event venue in the French capital, the 24-year-old from Santo André, Brazil, earned his podium spot with unique technical tricks and consistency under pressure.
Started by pro skateboarder Rob Dyrdek in 2010 with Monster Energy as a foundational sponsor, Street League Skateboarding (SLS) is the world's leading competition series for authentic street skateboarding. Aside from stadium events in Miami and Paris, this season introduced four SLS Spot Takeover events bringing festival-style energy to legendary street skate locations. Champions will be crowned at the SLS Super Crown World Championship in December.
Energy levels were running high inside legendary Stade Roland-Garros for the second arena event of the 2025 SLS World Tour. For the first time, the world-famous clay court venue in Paris – famous for hosting the French Open of tennis – served as the backdrop for a skateboarding event.
Expert competition terrain builders, California Skateparks, delivered a technical street course peppered with stairs, gaps, and transitions for world-class street skating. Next to replicating real-life street architecture, the course also paid homage to Stade Roland-Garros's history by applying a tennis-inspired color palette. Packed with a high-energy crowd of 10,000 skateboarding fans, the Paris venue witnessed an SLS event for the history books.
The Men's Street Skateboarding final on Saturday showcased the full potential of the course as six of the world's leading street skaters brought their A-game to Paris. The list of top competitors includes Monster Energy's Vianna, dropping into the final after recently claiming second place in the 2025 SLS Brasília Takeover street skateboarding competition in July.
In the Line Section, Vianna set the bar high with a perfect run on his first attempt. Stringing together frontside lipslide fakie the kink rail, Caballerial frontside noseslide fakie the Hubba, backside Smith grind the flat rail, heelflip frontside boardslide the Euro Gap rail, fakie frontside crooked grind the tall handrail, backside bluntslide transfer the flat rail and gap to frontside noseblunt slide the centerpiece rail earned Vianna 8.3 points.
Moving into the Single Tricks section, Vianna expanded his score on the strength of his explosive pop and individual trick selection. He finessed a technical Caballerial frontslide bluntslide fakie the tall handrail for 8.6 points on the second try and followed up with an ultra-rare frontside Half Cab backside Suski grind the tall rail for 8.8 points on his fourth attempt.
With everything riding on a fourth successful trick to build a competitive score, Vianna came through on the fifth and final attempt with a technical banger and Nine Club score: A perfectly executed Caballerial backward nosegrind fakie the tall handrail scored 9.1 points for second place at SLS Paris 2025.
On the strength of Saturday's podium finish, Vianna qualifies into the official SLS world championship in December. Vianna also won the 2023 SLS Super Crown World Championship.
Also stoking the crowd in Paris during Saturday's final, 30-year-old Nyjah Huston from Laguna Beach, California, dropped in as the highest-ranked rider on the 2025 SLS World Tour. Previously, Huston had claimed first place at the season opener SLS Miami 2025 and qualified into the final in fourth place.
Huston started building his score in Paris with a perfect Line on his second attempt: Putting together gap-out kickflip backside lipslide the centerpiece rail, backside Smith grind the flat rail, backside big spin up the Euro Gap, crooked grind the long kink rail, frontside 180 nosegrind revert the Hubba, switch frontside kickflip the bump, frontside bluntslide the Euro Gap rail, gap-out backside noseblunt slide the centerpiece rail and kickflip backside disaster the quarterpipe before the buzzer earned Huston 9.2 points as one of the weekend's highest Line scores.
Maintaining his Nine Club momentum into the Single Trick section, Huston followed up with a mind-boggling gap-out nollie backside noseblunt slide on the centerpiece rail for 9.0 points. After missing his third attempt, he followed through with a switch frontside kickflip over the entire centerpiece rail gap that had the Paris crowd on its feet. But with only one attempt left, Huston did not get the trick he wanted on the final try and settled for fourth place with a final score of 27.2 points. Huston is also qualified for the 2025 SLS Super Crown in Brazil.
Stay tuned for more action: Make sure to catch the next SLS Spot Takeover event in Las Vegas, Nevada, at 305 Convention Center Drive on October 25. For the grand finale, the season will conclude with the SLS Super Crown World Championship in São Paulo, Brazil (December 6-7).
