Monster Energy's Marine Cabirou Takes Second Place at 2025 UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup in Les Gets

28-Year-Old Cabirou from France Returns from Injury and Claims 2^nd Place in Elite Women Division Race

LES GETS, France, Aug. 31, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The World Cup is back on track! Monster Energy congratulates team rider Marine Cabirou on taking second place in the UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup in Les Gets, France, this weekend. In the seventh race event of the 2025 season, the 28-year-old from Millau, France, returned from injury to claim her podium spot in the Elite Women Division amid turbulent weather conditions.

The Elite Women Division final saw 35-year-old Camille Balanche from Le Locle, Switzerland, show her grit on the muddy track to earn fourth place. In the Elite Men division final on Saturday, 31-year-old Troy Brosnan from Adelaide, South Australia, earned fourth place in his 100^th UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup start.

From August 28-31, the 2025 UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup returned to Les Gets in the French mountain region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. After a six-week competition break over the summer, the world's best mountain bike racers descended on the iconic MTB track that has hosted the most premium events in the sport for more than 30 years.

Over the course of the weekend, riders faced rainy and muddy conditions that added a significant level of danger and uncertainty to the high-stakes event.

In the Elite Women Downhill race, Monster Energy's Cabirou returned to competition freshly recovered from a heavy fall, resulting in hospitalization for a serious back injury, at the previous World Cup race in Andorra. Unfazed by some of the weekend's worst track conditions, Cabirou dropped into the course as one of the first riders in Saturday's final and put down a nearly unbeatable performance that only one rider was able to surpass.

Showcasing her bike control and technical abilities, Cabirou prevailed through muddy turns and slippery stretches to finish the track in a total time of 4:56.589 for second place.

"I'm so happy! I can't believe I landed a spot on the podium today after coming back from injury and fighting through it," said Marine Cabirou upon her second-place finish at Les Gets. "I thank my team for convincing me to go up for Q2 and getting my confidence up to continue to push. I was still in a lot of pain heading into the second qualifier. This weekend was not easy with the mud and rain but having the support of my family and team really helped me stay focused and this second-place finish is proof. So stoked now going into World Champs next week!"

On the strength of this weekend's podium spot, Cabirou advanced to fifth place in the overall 2025 UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup season with 859 points.

Also finishing in the top five in Les Gets, Monster Energy's Balanche recovered from her 14^th place finish at Andorra and took fourth place with a finish time of 4:58.367. In overall rankings, Balanche now commands fourth place with a score of 872 points.

The Elite Men Division final on Saturday wrapped with another Monster Energy rider in the top five: 31-year-old Troy Brosnan earned fourth place in the competitive race with a finish time of 4:01.104. The Les Gets event also marked the Australian's 100th participation in a UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup race.

Monster Energy continues to dominate the UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup overall standings, holding six of the top ten spots in the Elite Men overall rankings. Loris Vergier currently sits in third place, Luca Shaw in fourth, Amaury Pierron in sixth, Thibaut Daprela in seventh, Troy Brosnan in eighth, and Jordan Williams in tenth.

The 2025 UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup season is now entering its final stages. Tune in when the competition series hits Bike Kingdom Park in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, for Round 8 from September 18 - 21.
