Montegrappa Partners With Sylvester Stallone
--Stallone to Serve as Brand Ambassador, Investor and Creative Advisor to Italy's Legendary Manufacturer of Fine Writing Pens--
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 9, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Montegrappa, Italy's most revered manufacturer of fine writing instruments, is pleased to announce legendary filmmaker, writer and actor, Sylvester Stallone, has acquired an interest in the brand. The acquisition strengthens a relationship that dates back more than 15 years when the company learned Mr. Stallone was an aficionado and collector of Montegrappa pens. Mr. Stallone will serve as a Montegrappa brand ambassador and will also provide creative input regarding new styles of pens to be introduced during 2011.
Mr. Stallone's career, now entering its fifth decade, has created million of fans globally as well as numerous successful films including the Oscar-winning Rocky series. Other iconic roles much-beloved by movie-goers around the world include the Rambo series of films, Cop Land, and most recently, the international box office hit The Expendables.
With broad interests including a passion for art and with his seasoned collector's eye, Mr. Stallone was first introduced to Montegrappa when he chose to ink a major contract with an ultra-rare version of the Montegrappa Gold Dragon Fountain Pen. Mr. Stallone felt it appropriate that he sign such an important document with the solid gold version "artist's proof" of the pen which he eventually used to place his signature on the unique, monumental contract.
Mr. Giuseppe Aquila, CEO of Montegrappa, commented on the partnership, "I have had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Stallone on many occasions, including the 2009 Venice Film Festival, where Mr. Stallone was recognized for his filmmaking with the Glory To The Filmmaker Award. Sylvester is much more than a friend; he is an icon and an artist and now, an integral part of Montegrappa's distinguished history."
In its 99-year existence, Montegrappa has established a reputation as the most noble of pen manufacturers, with its writing implements used by famed authors including Ernest Hemingway and Paulo Coehlo, as well as heads of state, royalty and international leaders in politics, business, sports and entertainment. Montegrappa brand ambassadors also include Formula One racing driver, Jean Alesi, and author Paulo Coelho.
Additional terms of the partnership will be kept confidential.
