The technology industry in general has lagged businesses in general in terms of minority participation. While women make up 59 percent of the US labor force, they only represent 30 percent of workers in tech. - The individual(s) must be an American citizen, by birth or naturalization.

8(a) firms are also able to form joint ventures and teams to bid on potential government contracts. This enhances the ability of 8(a) firms to perform larger prime contracts.
