Most OfficeMax Stores to Open 8 p.m. Thanksgiving Day

NAPERVILLE, Ill., Oct. 31, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- OfficeMax^® Incorporated (NYSE: OMX), a leading provider of office supplies, technology and business services, today announced it is opening its doors at 8:00 p.m. local time Thanksgiving night¹ with hot doorbuster deals, and offering significant Black Friday savings at OfficeMax.com starting at 12:01 a.m. EST Thanksgiving morning to deliver holiday savings to customers earlier than ever.

The OfficeMax Black Friday shopping event will take place for three days from Thursday, Nov. 28 – Saturday Nov. 30 in stores and at OfficeMax.com, featuring big savings on must-have holiday gifts, including the latest in mobile technology and accessories.

In response to interest from customers who prefer to start their shopping early, most OfficeMax stores will open at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving evening, consistent with many retailers. Thirty-five million people shopped Thanksgiving openings last year, and many shoppers say they prefer spending time with their friends and family in stores, as opposed to setting the alarm on Black Friday morning, according to a 2012 consumer spending survey sponsored by the National Retail Federation².

Three Ways to Save with Door Buster Events
This year OfficeMax is kicking off its in-store specials with three door buster events starting local time at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Thanksgiving, and 5 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29, while supplies last.

Black Friday Specials and More Online
Customers can get a head start on shopping while the turkey is still thawing with a special online-only Black Friday sales event at OfficeMax.com starting at 9 p.m. EST Wednesday, Nov. 27, followed by three days of OfficeMax Black Friday ad deals starting at 12:01 a.m. EST on Thanksgiving. OfficeMax.com shoppers can also enjoy free shipping on most orders of $20 or more³ from Wednesday, Nov. 27 through Cyber Monday, Dec. 2, or free same-day, in-store pickup⁴ on select holiday purchases.
