Mount St. Mary's University serves more than 160 meals at Emmitsburg Neighborhood Meal
Mount St. Mary's University students, faculty and staff joined Emmitsburg residents on Sept. 10 for the Emmitsburg Neighborhood Meal, where more than 60 volunteers prepared and served over 160 meals.
EMMITSBURG, Md., Oct. 10, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Mount St. Mary's University students, faculty, and staff joined forces with the local community on the evening of Sept. 10 for the Emmitsburg Neighborhood Meal, an event that welcomed neighbors for an evening of fellowship and service.
More than 60 Mount volunteers, including members of the lacrosse team, faculty and students representing every academic year, prepared and served over 160 meals to Emmitsburg residents. Throughout the evening, volunteers and guests shared conversation, creating connections that highlight the Mount's commitment to community engagement.
Emmitsburg Mayor Frank Davis attended the gathering and expressed appreciation for the Mount community's continued partnership. "This event demonstrates how service and hospitality strengthen the bonds between the university and the town," he said.
The Emmitsburg Neighborhood Meal is part of the Mount's ongoing efforts to foster meaningful relationships with the surrounding community through volunteerism and outreach.
Mount St. Mary's University Center for Service
The Center for Service at the Mount facilitates mutually beneficial relationships between community partners, students, faculty and staff. Students participate in service through leadership programs, weekly service activities, immersion trips and credit-bearing classes. Faculty generate research for the local community and work with community partners to teach experiential classes. Community members participate in the Mount's research, teaching and service through community-based research and learning.
