Movimento Group Names Walter Dorfstatter as its Chief Technology Officer
PLYMOUTH, Mich., April 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Movimento Group—helping OEMs develop "Better Vehicles Faster" through Vehicle Knowledge Management—announced today that Walt Dorfstatter has joined the company as its new chief technology officer.
Dorfstatter most recently served as executive director of Integrated Vehicle Health Management (IVHM) and Vehicle CyberSecurity at General Motors Global Research & Development, where he was responsible for new vehicle technology enablers and analytical tools to enhance product development and convert R&D development to innovation in the market.
Prior to that, Dorfstatter was president of GM OnStar, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Motors Company, where he led the development and implementation of new OnStar technologies and services and oversaw the operations of automated services and hardware quality.
Dorfstatter joined OnStar as chief engineer for Hardware and was later named director of Product Development and Vehicle Integration. His career began as a design engineer for various programs (audio systems, powertrain and instrument clusters) at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Mich.
Dorfstatter holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science degree in engineering management from Wayne State University. He has received GM's prestigious President's Council and Chairman's Honors awards and its "Boss" Kettering Award, which recognizes outstanding technical achievement.
