HEBRON, Ohio, June 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The editors of Water & Wastes Digest have named Justin Pierce, director of engineering and manufacturing for MPW Industrial Services, one of the water industry's top young professionals.
Pierce, 33, was among 16 "rising stars" featured in the magazine's May issue, honoring water professionals under 40 whose responsibilities range from engineering and operations to legal matters and research and development.
"I'm humbled by this honor and happy for MPW because this recognition reflects the company's commitment to giving young people meaningful opportunities," Pierce said. "I am thankful for the confidence MPW has in me and the chance to build a career here. And I'm thankful I work with a great team from a variety of disciplines."
Pierce began work at MPW in 2006 as a co-op employee while pursuing his degree in engineering management at Ohio University. Upon graduation, he accepted a full-time position as a project engineer. In 2007, Pierce was promoted to engineering supervisor, and in 2013 he was named director of engineering for the industrial water division. He was named to his current position in December.
Pierce has been a driving force in the development of MPW's technology center, which will officially open in July. He also directed construction of MPW's regeneration plant in Port Arthur, Texas, in 2012, and is the technical lead for the Georgetown, S.C., plant, which will open later this year.
"There's nothing I enjoy more than seeing young people grow in knowledge and responsibility," said Monte Black, MPW's founder, chairman and chief executive officer. "I'm delighted Justin has been recognized externally for his talent and leadership, which we at MPW have known for quite some time."
Since Pierce joined MPW, the engineering function has grown from three to 30 employees. Pierce led the team that designed and developed the industry's first combined reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration mobile trailer, which MPW introduced last year.
With nearly 3,000 employees and 72 locations in the United States and Canada, MPW Industrial Services provides industrial cleaning, water purification, and facility and environmental management services to customers in the power generation, primary metals, chemicals, refining, oil and gas, automotive, food and beverage, and pulp and paper industries.
