Mubadala hosts local youth at Silicon Valley Classic
48th year of the longest-running women-only professional tennis tournament
SAN JOSE, Calif., July 30, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Mubadala Investment Company (Mubadala) of Abu Dhabi, today hosted a group of over 70 kids from regional youth tennis programs at the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic at San Jose State University. The guests enjoyed VIP access at the facilities and had a chance to meet several professional women tennis players.
The aspiring young tennis players represented two youth tennis programs of the United States Tennis Association. The National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) network is a nation-wide group of community tennis organizations seeking to develop the character of young people through tennis and education. NorCal H.I.T.S. is a low-cost tennis program for kids 10 and under that incorporates the fundamentals of a team sport with life skills enrichment.

First played in 1971, known now as the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic, the tournament is in its 48th year and is the longest-running women-only professional tennis tournament in the world. It is also the first women's stop of the US Open Series.
