CHICAGO, Dec. 7, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- ICAP Ocean Tomo, the intellectual property brokerage division of ICAP plc (IAP.L) and the world's premier patent auction firm, has been engaged by Yuvee, Inc. to sell three US issued patents relating to multifunction keyboard technologies. The assets have been cited by Nokia, Research in Motion, Boeing, Compaq Information Technologies, Zeemote, Inc., and Gulfstream Aerospace among others.
The markets for wireless smartphone handsets and tablet computers utilizing touchscreen technologies have experienced exponential sales growth over the last year. The Yuvee, Inc. assets describe multifunction keyboard and virtual key technologies with highly relevant features to devices in both the wireless smartphone and tablet computer markets. The patents address potential improvements in these fields such as multifunction inputs on a single key, increased permutations for physical and touchscreen keyboard functionality in relation to controlling multiple application and feature modes, and potentially address future growth of virtual keyboard user interfaces such as LCD-based keyboards among other growth areas.
"Users of mobile devices are demanding an ever-expanding, richer and more immersive mobile user experience, across all contexts: applications, mobile Internet and device features, whether on touchscreen or physical key devices. Companies that incorporate our technology will have the advantage in their product offerings over their competitors in satisfying that demand", said Tim Higginson, founder and President of Yuvee, Inc.
"With smartphone sales increasing over 90% since 2009, the competition among devices is fierce. The Yuvee, Inc. assets could enable an acquirer to improve on existing functionality which many users consider a crucial element of any device," said Dean Becker, ICAP Ocean Tomo CEO.
