SECAUCUS, N.J., Nov. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Quest Diagnostics Incorporated (NYSE: DGX), the world's leading provider of diagnostic information services, announced that MyQuest, used by more than six million people to see, store and share their results and health information using a smartphone, tablet or desktop computer, now supports Health Records on iPhone. In addition, Quest recently launched a MyQuest update that provides new features such as direct access testing, the ability to add dependents or other approved users, real-time scheduling and more for patients as they become more engaged in managing their healthcare decisions.
"Consumers play a more active role in managing their health and wellness than ever before, and they expect the most accurate and up-to-date diagnostic information, so that they can make educated decisions," said Cathy Doherty, Senior Vice President and Group Executive, Clinical Franchise Solutions & Marketing. "The MyQuest update supporting Health Records on iPhone is another resource for individuals to empower better health."
Health Records on iPhone brings together hospitals, clinics and the existing Apple Health app, making it easy for patients to see their available medical data from multiple providers whenever they choose. With the addition of MyQuest to Health Records, patients will now be able to integrate their lab data into the overall picture of their health.
Previously, patients' medical records, including lab data were held in multiple locations, requiring patients to log into each care provider's website and piece together the information manually. Apple worked with the healthcare community to take a consumer-friendly approach and created Health Records based on FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources), a standard for transferring electronic medical records. Now, patients will have medical information from participating institutions organized into one view. Health Records data is encrypted and protected with the user's iPhone passcode, Touch ID or Face ID.
Quest Diagnostics has been a leader in the movement for consumer empowerment in healthcare. The company has been a strong advocate in the effort to provide patients with direct access to lab testing through QuestDirect. More than six million patients track and access their lab results and health data through Quest Diagnostics' MyQuest website and mobile app. The company further expanded convenient access to testing services through its recent collaborations with Safeway and Walmart, and expects to have well over 200 patient service centers in retail store locations by the end of 2018. Additionally, the company provides genotyping test services on behalf of Ancestry's AncestryDNA, a service that today identifies and quantifies an individual's ethnic origins based on results of DNA testing and Blueprint Fit, the first athlete-specific direct-to-consumer service from Quest Diagnostics.
