PHILADELPHIA, May 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading global provider of information and point-of-care solutions for the healthcare industry, today announced a collaboration with the National Association of Directors of Nursing Administration in Long Term Care (NADONA/LTC) that will tap experts from the association's membership to review and certify Lippincott Advisor's long-term care-specific (LTC) content. NADONA/LTC is one of the leading professional associations dedicated to supporting directors of nursing and senior nursing administrators working in long-term care. Lippincott Advisor is the leading online clinical decision-support solution used by nurses and clinicians in hospitals and long-term care facilities.
A rotating team of experts culled from NADONA's membership and representing a spectrum of specialties will review all current Lippincott Advisor LTC "Diseases and Conditions" entries to ensure that each entry addresses the specific needs related to LTC. Sherrie Dornberger, RN, GDCN, CDP, CDONA, FACDONA, Executive Director, NADONA/LTC, is handpicking the experts and will oversee the effort for NADONA. The team ultimately will assist the Wolters Kluwer clinical team to ensure that each LTC entry addresses current clinical needs of residents in all types of long-term care facilities helping to ensure that every resident is receiving high quality care and that facility is meeting current regulatory requirements.
The agreement also calls for NADONA to continue the collaboration on an ongoing basis whereby its experts will review all of the existing and new LTC-specific Lippincott Advisor program entries annually. The first round of NADONA-certification is expected to be complete by December 2014.
"Wolters Kluwer Health ensures that the content within Lippincott Advisor represents the latest and most current evidence-based research. With long-term care being one of the most heavily regulated industries, it's critically important to understand both the federal guidelines as well as state-level regulations," said Dornberger. "Where we add value is by tapping into our specialists who understand the idiosyncrasies of the regulations. We'll ensure that Advisor reflects that understanding which will enable users to provide the highest quality-of-care to an increasingly acute population of long-term care residents."
"NADONA has been one of the leading advocates in long-term care for more than 25 years. Input from their members is going to help us validate that Lippincott Advisor meets the needs of the long-term care community and today's LTC professionals," said Judith McCann, MSN, RN, Chief Nurse, Professional & Education, Wolters Kluwer Health. "It's also going to help us ensure that Advisor's long-term care content is accurate, timely and relevant and can be trusted as a clinical decision-support product for LTC clinicians."
Lippincott Advisor is the leading online clinical decision-support solution in use at the bedside. The product includes more than 10,000 collective entries of critical, evidence-based information spanning diseases, treatments, diagnostic tests, drugs, signs and symptoms, nursing care plans, core measures, hospital-acquired conditions, national guidelines and patient education. The LTC market is served well by the product, which includes dedicated categories focusing on the special needs of all LTC facilities including the nursing home, long-term post-acute and sub-acute units and facilities, and independent and assisted living facilities.
