NAMCP Announces the Release of Volume 14, Issue 1 of the Journal of Managed Care Medicine (JMCM)
JMCM 14.1 featured article is titled Taking Charge: Improving Outcomes in the Type 2 DM Patient Population
GLEN ALLEN, Va., March 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Association of Managed Care Physicians (NAMCP) has announced the release of Volume 14, Issue 1 of the Journal of Managed Care Medicine (JMCM). The peer-reviewed quarterly journal, which has an Editorial Review Board of medical directors from purchasers, health plans and provider systems, is sent to over 13,000 healthcare professionals, including medical directors, nurse case managers and administrators. JMCM is the official journal of NAMCP.
The featured article of the first issue of 2011 focuses on the importance of taking charge and improving patient outcomes in the management of type 2 diabetes. The American Diabetes Association (ADA) estimates that more than 20 million people in the United States, or 7 percent of the population, have diabetes, and that one in three Americans born in 2000 will develop diabetes sometime during their lifetime. Despite numerous treatment approaches and pharmacologic agents, the treatment of hyperglycemia in patients with type 2 diabetes remains a major clinical challenge as a large proportion of patients still do not achieve optimal glycemic control. This article details the importance of improving these outcomes and closing gaps in the management of type 2 diabetes.
