Nash Technologies Uses MIMOon's LTE Stack to Extend its Small Cell Portfolio Towards 4G and Beyond
NUREMBERG, Germany, May 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Nash Technologies, a vendor-independent player in the wireless R&D business today announced that it has reached agreement with MIMOon, a leading LTE software vendor for small cells and terminals, to integrate MIMOon's 4G LTE software stack into its small cell portfolio.
This step enables Nash Technologies to extend its successful WCDMA software framework with 4G and beyond. This Framework enables a fast generation of End-to-End use cases based on small cells, such as mobile small cells or mHealth solutions.
"Small cell product vendors can now focus on creatively differentiating their products", said MIMOon's VP of Marketing, Brian Meads. "The combination of MIMOon's robust and platform independent small cell protocol stack in the hands of the engineers at Nash Technologies significantly shortens time-to-market while allowing the product developer to enhance their product with value-added features."
"The extension of our WCDMA solution towards 4G not only enables us to provide a highly flexible software platform for small cells, it also allows a timely entry into 5G", said Markus Ermer, CTO of Nash Technologies GmbH. "The market trend clearly points towards specific small cell applications, e.g. mobile small cells. Such applications demand a maximum flexible multi technology capable software platform in order to assure a timely market entry".
Infonetics forecasts approximately 4.5 million deployed Small Cells in 2017, ramping up from approximately 1 million in 2013, with a compound annual growth rate of 75%. 4G Small Cells shipments overtook those of 3G around the end of 2013. The global Small Cell market is expected to grow to $2.7 billion in 2017. Further good news: backhaul no longer inhibits the growth of Small Cells.
Small cells enable the generation of new revenues via a rich set of special use cases based on presence and service discovery information in its vicinity.
