"We are proud to honor Brent's outstanding service and recognize him for his dedication and commitment to continuously improving his campus community," said Heather Brown, Director, National Association of College Auxiliary Services and member of the Award Committee. "Brent has been instrumental in campus sustainability efforts and food donation programs but it is his leadership skills and ability to inspire others which truly set him apart."
The College Foodservice Excellence Award was sponsored by On-Campus Hospitality and the nominees were evaluated by the On-Campus Hospitality Editorial Board and the NACAS Awards Committee. The award recipient was selected after careful consideration of each person's impact on the campus and its community.
"Brent is recognized by the leadership of the University as a manager and leader who deeply cares about the level of customer service provided to students, faculty, staff and visitors. He has been an extremely active member of the University community working with student groups on various projects including sustainability initiatives and establishing a local chapter of Campus Kitchen to provide food to the needy," said Richard Kovatch, Associate Vice President for Business Operations, University of Virginia.
"I can honestly say that I have never encountered a foodservice professional who has done more to unite the University with the community," said Ida Lee Wootten, Director of Community Relations, University of Virginia.
Beringer joined ARAMARK in 1998 and has led the University of Virginia's Dining Services since 2001.
