National Association of Realtors® Presents Jack Woodcock with Distinguished Service Award

CHICAGO, Nov. 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Jack Woodcock, a Realtor^® from Las Vegas, has received the National Association of Realtors^® 2017 Distinguished Service Award. The honor is presented yearly to no more than two of NAR's 1.3 million members. Winners were recognized at the REALTORS^® Conference & Expo in Chicago.

NAR established the award in 1979 to honor Realtors^® who have made outstanding contributions to the real estate industry and who serve as leaders in their local communities. It is considered the highest honor an NAR member can receive; recipients must be active at the local, state and national association levels but must not have served as NAR president. NAR 2018 President Elizabeth Mendenhall presented the award to Woodcock.

Woodcock has been a Realtor^® for 43 years and currently works for Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Nevada Properties in Las Vegas. During his almost five-decade career, he has had a great impact on his local and state Realtor^® associations and held multiple leadership positions.

An active NAR member, Woodcock has held a number of leadership positions within the Realtor^® organization during his career. These positions include 25 years of service to the NAR Board of Directors; as a regional vice president in 2002 for Region XI representing Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming; and as chair of the Commercial Legislation and Regulatory Subcommittee and the Economic Issues and Commercial Real Estate Business Trends Forum.

Woodcock is a co-founder of the Realtors^® Political Action Committee's President's Circle and is a 2003 inductee to the RPAC Hall of Fame. He was recognized for achieving the RPAC $100,000 contribution level in 2017.

Woodcock also served on the Multiple Listing Policy, Political Affairs, Political Affairs/Political Communications Network, Commercial Finance and Public Policy Coordinating Committees, as well as on the RPAC Trustees Committee for eight years.

In addition to his national involvement, Woodcock has also been active in his local and state Realtor^® associations. During his 43 years of service to the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors^®, he served on the board of directors; chaired the Multiple Listing Service, Executive and Building Committees; was vice chair of the Hall of Fame Selection Committee; and was elected president in 1986.

Woodcock also has over 40 years of service to the Nevada Association of Realtors^®. He served as president in 1992, chaired the NVAR PAC for eight years, and was an NAR federal political coordinator to Nevada Senator John Ensign. Woodcock also received an acclamation from Senator Ensign for his instrumental role in the passage of Public Law 107-326, the "FHA Downpayment Simplification Act of 2002."

In 1985, Woodcock founded the Lied Institute for Real Estate Studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and he has been a board member of the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce since 1985.

Outside of real estate, Woodcock honorably served 11 years in the Air Force and received two commendation medals and a Bronze Star for meritorious combat service during two tours in Vietnam. He also served two years in both Germany and Holland and worked in the Pentagon's command and control center for Air Force One. Woodcock also serves his community as a Rotarian; he has been a member of the Las Vegas Southwest Rotary Club since 1976 and was its president in 1982.

He is the founder of numerous businesses, including a Kids R Kids child development center, which has gained national acclaim for its advanced curriculum. Woodcock is married to Kathy, also a Realtor^®, and has two daughters, Anita and Sheila, and a son, McKenzie.  He has three grandsons, Andrew, Michael and Matthew and one granddaughter, Niya. His family provides his inspiration to make his community a better place.
