National Coastal Protection Conference Heading for South Carolina

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., July 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- With the impacts of rising sea levels increasingly upon us and the need for effective action at hand, authorities from around the country will meet in Myrtle Beach this August for a highly focused symposium on protecting our shoreline infrastructure from the potential devastation of the rising tides.


Procedures for evaluating sea level change, the unforeseen consequences of coastal flooding, community resilience, impact assessment, response and adaption strategies, new mapping tools and techniques for visualizing sea level rise, handling extreme storm surges, and low-cost retrofitting to facilitate flood protection will be among the topics covered.
