National Nuclear Museum Now Accepting Photography for Exhibition
The Smithsonian affiliated National Museum of Nuclear Science & History will host a photo art exhibit focusing on STEM.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., July 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Any individual, from a professional photographer to a student with a camera phone, may submit a photograph to the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History's 4th Annual Atomic STEaM Photography competition/exhibition – deadline for entries is September 1, 2017 - with the hope to not only win a cash prize, but to also have their work on display in a nationally accredited, Smithsonian affiliated museum. All winning entries will debut at the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History from November 4 through December 31, 2017.
The museum will host a photo art exhibit that invites members of the community, and the world, to share their photographic talent and eye for everything that is science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEaM). The "Atomic STEaM Photography Show" exhibition will open on November 4, 2017, and will display photography ranging from the literal engineering feats of the Great Wall of China and the Great Pyramid of Giza, to the abstract interpretation of science as seen through a plant experiencing photosynthesis.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for community members, and people from all over, to represent what STEaM means to them and display their talent for photography in a special exhibition at a national museum," said Jim Walther, Museum Director. "We look forward to introducing STEM in an artistic capacity, hence the "an" in our 'STEaM Photo Show' title."
Though all photographs submitted to the Museum must relate in some way to the overall theme of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics, they are open to interpretation by the photographer. This is the second year a youth category has been incorporated, as all photographers will fall within one of two categories; "Youth" for anyone 17 years and younger and "Open" for all individuals 18 years and older.
Each entry fee is $15, and there is no limit to the number of entries an individual can submit. Entry deadline is Friday, September 1, 2017, and notification of acceptance will be announced on Wednesday, September 27, 2017.

The exhibit will remain on display to the public through December 31, 2017, and there is no additional cost to view the exhibit beyond the regular Museum admission.
The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History is located at 601 Eubank SE in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the entrance to the Sandia Science & Technology Park. The Museum is a not-for-profit organization. It was chartered by Congress in 1991 to serve as a repository and steward of nuclear-related historical items and is a nationally accredited, Smithsonian affiliate.
