WICKENBURG, Ariz., May 2, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Rosewood Centers for Eating Disorders, one of the nation's most respected treatment programs for anorexia, bulimia, binge eating and co-occurring disorders, is excited to welcome Juliet Zuercher, RD, as Executive Director of Nutrition Services.
A registered dietitian, Zuercher is an expert in eating disorder treatment and nutrition, with over 20 years of experience in the field. She works with patients to change their thoughts and feelings surrounding food and body image, emphasizing the importance of eating a wide variety of nutritionally sound, satisfying foods. Her approach helps patients struggling with eating disorders learn to trust their internal cues instead of being consumed by dangerous dieting and weight cycling.
"For people with eating disorders, meals are associated with a tremendous amount of fear and anxiety," Zuercher said. "Through treatment, we can help challenge distorted myths about food, exercise and body image, and help move patients from a place of fear to freedom."
Rosewood is one of the longest-standing treatment programs for eating disorders, as well as co-occurring conditions such as addiction, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other mood and psychiatric disorders. With centers in Wickenburg and Tempe, Ariz., and Santa Monica, Calif., Rosewood offers specialized programs for adults and teens of all genders. Zuercher will oversee the individualized nutrition care provided in Rosewood's inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization and outpatient programs.
"We are thrilled to have Juliet join our team of experts," said Mark Bower, Vice President of Operations for Rosewood Centers for Eating Disorders. "Her background combined with her experience in the field of eating disorder treatment will help our center continue to grow as a leader in this field, offering unparalleled treatment."
Zuercher is experienced in creating structured eating and recovery programs for patients who are severely medically compromised due to eating disorders. She is a firm believer that individuals of all backgrounds and body types can experience a healthy relationship with food and physical activity. She incorporates best practices from the field of eating disorders and tenants of lifestyle management into each patient's individualized treatment plan. She has traveled the country presenting workshops to help educate professionals about treating eating disorders.
