Nationally Recognized Financial Regulatory Attorney Leonard Chanin To Rejoin Morrison & Foerster as a Partner in its Washington, D.C. Office

WASHINGTON, Aug. 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Morrison & Foerster LLP announced today that Leonard Chanin will rejoin the firm as a Partner in its Washington, D.C. office as a member of the firm's Financial Services Practice.  Mr. Chanin is a recognized expert in the field of consumer financial protection, with extensive experience in regulation and supervision of the myriad of statutes affecting retail banking.

Mr. Chanin will join Morrison & Foerster from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ("CFPB"), where he serves as the Assistant Director of the Office of Regulations.  In this position, he is responsible for the nearly 40 lawyers for promulgating rules and regulations implementing consumer financial protection legislation.  The Office of Regulations also provides compliance advice under the various consumer financial protection statutes for which the CFPB now has rule-writing authority.  Prior to joining the CFPB, he served as Deputy Director in the Division of Consumer and Community Affairs of the Federal Reserve Board, where he supervised the promulgation of all consumer financial protection regulations under the Board's broad authority.
