Nationally Renowned Photojournalist Harry Benson to Showcase his Works at Cohen & Grigsby's Pittsburgh Offices This Fall

PITTSBURGH, Sept. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Cohen & Grigsby, a business law firm with headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA and an office in Naples, FL, will showcase the broad portfolio of nationally renowned, award-winning photojournalist Harry Benson in the C&G Gallery this fall.  The three-month art exhibit will begin with an invitation-only reception on October 11, 2012, where invited guests will have the opportunity to meet Mr. Benson and view his works.  The reception will take place at the C&G Gallery, located in the reception area of the firm's Pittsburgh headquarters (EQT Plaza, 625 Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA).

Since traveling to the United States with the Beatles in 1964, Benson has captured images from pivotal events that include everything from the assassination of Robert Kennedy to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.  Benson has also given people a behind-the-scenes look at the everyday lives of celebrities with images that include Paul McCartney playing piano with his young daughter, the Beatles laughing at one another during a late-night hotel pillow fight, and Dolly Parton getting all "dolled up" before a performance.  In addition, Benson has photographed every U.S. President since Dwight Eisenhower.   

Leading magazines including Vanity Fair, Newsweek, Life and Time have featured Benson's work, and he has been recognized nationally for his work on numerous occasions.  He earned the title of National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) Magazine Photographer of the Year twice.  He also received the 2005 Lucie Award for Lifetime Achievement in Portrait Photography and the 2005 American Photo Magazine Award for Achievement in Photography.  Benson has also received the Leica Medal of Excellence twice. 

The Harry Benson exhibit is the latest display of art at the C&G Gallery, which was created when the law firm relocated its offices to Pittsburgh's Cultural District in 2008.  At that time, the firm set aside space within the lobby of the offices for the creation of an art gallery that would give local, regional and international artists a place to showcase their works.  The gallery is part of the firm's ongoing commitment to supporting arts and cultural pursuits in western Pennsylvania.  As part of that commitment, Cohen & Grigsby is now in the fifth year of a partnership with the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust as the presenting sponsor of the "Trust Presents" series, which brings a diverse array of entertainment to Pittsburgh's Cultural District.
