Nation's Largest Kidney Care Coalition Announces Chairman Elect

WASHINGTON, Aug. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Dr. Edward R. Jones, Chief of the Renal Section at Chestnut Hill Hospital in Philadelphia and Clinical Professor of Medicine at Temple University Hospital, has been selected chairman-elect of Kidney Care Partners (KCP) through the end of this year.  He will assume the chairmanship January 1, 2014.   

KCP, founded in 2003, is a broad-based coalition of physicians, providers, nurses, patients, manufacturers and kidney care advocates dedicated to working together to improve quality of care for individuals with Chronic Kidney Disease. KCP's goal is to bring together the kidney community to ensure: chronic kidney disease patients receive optimal care; chronic kidney disease patients are able to live quality lives; dialysis care is readily accessible to all those in need; and research and development are supported to enhance therapies and innovative products.

Dr. Jones, a former KCP chair, is also past President of the Renal Physicians Association (RPA) and represents the RPA at the American Medical Association (AMA) and Kidney Care Partners. Dr. Jones has served on the RPA AMA Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement (PCPI) responsible for the development of physician performance measures. He is actively involved in public policy and advocacy for nephrologists and kidney patients both at a State and National levels.

Dr. Jones graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina, completed his Internal medicine residency and was Chief Medical Resident at Temple University Hospital. He was a renal fellow in the Renal and Electrolyte Section of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Jones received his MBA in Healthcare Management from St Joseph's University in Philadelphia.

Ron Kuerbitz, President of Fresenius Medical Care of North America, currently serves as Chairman of Kidney Care Partners.
