New Chief Financial Officer Joins American Humane Association

Rose as its new Chief Financial Officer. A nationwide search produced a number of competitive candidates, but Rose was the clear choice with more than 30 years of nonprofit finance and management experience. Rose will utilize his valuable knowledge of fiduciary best practices to guide the organization as it launches its revolutionary Transformative Agenda for 2012.

Prior to his hiring at American Humane Association, Rose worked as the Vice President of Finance and Administration and the Chief Financial Officer at the Epilepsy Foundation. Not only did he provide leadership and direction to all financial and accounting activities, he also oversaw Human Resources, IT, and was the senior staff liaison to the Board Finance and Board Audit Committees.

Rose also brings more than 20 years of service at AARP, where he was appointed to the position of Controller, directing a staff of more than 80 people. Under his management of financial operations there, the organization expanded its membership base to 35 million people and a budget of $600 million. While at AARP he helped develop their first ever computerized accounting systems and conversion of data to a digital format.

A native of England, Rose immigrated to the United States in 1978 after spending four years in Bermuda working for Charles Kemp and Company, a Chartered Accountants firm. His arrival to the island came after he served as audit manager for a Chartered Accountants firm just south of London.

Rose attended the Bromley Grammar School for Boys in England, which he describes as "very old-fashioned," then later went on to earn his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Bromley College. He subsequently earned a professional certification from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants of England and Wales.
