NBC Affiliates and StayClassy Team Up to Reward Nonprofit Organizations at 2nd Annual Classy Awards

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- StayClassy, the leader in social fundraising for nonprofits, embraces the national spotlight this Fall by expanding its prestigious CLASSY Awards nationwide with the help of NBC affiliates.  

Locally referred to as the Academy Awards® of Philanthropy, the 2nd Annual CLASSY Awards recognizes the top philanthropic achievements in eight cities across the country: Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York City, San Diego, San Francisco, and Washington D.C. From August 1 until September 17, StayClassy and local NBC affiliates are encouraging America to nominate charities, businesses and individuals for their remarkable achievements in the community and abroad.

"The inaugural year for the CLASSY Awards [2009] was a huge success with hundreds of nominations and over 20,000 votes cast for the winners," said Scot Chisholm, CEO of StayClassy.  "We are excited to partner with local NBC affiliates to help expand the event to seven additional cities across the country, allowing us to recognize the achievements of thousands of worthy organizations this year."

On October 9, StayClassy will announce the top five City Finalists per category and America will have the opportunity to vote for the City Award Winners. Each City Winner will be invited to the CLASSY Awards ceremony on November 7th in San Diego, where the National Winners will be recognized.

A Charitable Event to Remember

The 2nd Annual CLASSY Awards competition will culminate at a red-carpet awards ceremony on Sunday, November 7 in Downtown San Diego.  It will feature a host of celebrity presenters, chart-topping music talent, nonprofit and technology leaders, and hundreds (if not thousands) of CLASSY Awards supporters.  More than $100,000 will be donated to support the charitable efforts of the ten National CLASSY Awards Winners.
