NBTY Names Jeffrey A. Nagel as Chief Executive Officer

RONKONKOMA, N.Y., Dec. 6, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- NBTY, Inc., a global manufacturer, marketer and distributor of nutritional supplements, today announced that Jeffrey A. Nagel has been named Chief Executive Officer. He succeeds Scott Rudolph, who will maintain his position as Chairman. Mr. Nagel will assume his new duties on December 6, 2010 and be based in Ronkonkoma, NY.

Mr. Nagel comes to NBTY from General Electric Company ("GE") where he held senior leadership positions in several GE businesses addressing a variety of end markets, including oil & gas, consumer electronicals, technology and aviation.  He most recently served as head of GE Oil & Gas Global Services and was based in Florence, Italy.

During his GE career, Mr. Nagel served in a variety of leadership positions throughout the organization.  In 2006, he was made a GE corporate officer and appointed as the Vice President and General Manager of GE Oil & Gas Global Services.  Previously, he served as President & CEO of GE Inspection Technologies, General Manager of Business Development in GE Aircraft Engines and President of GE Home Electric Products.  Mr. Nagel joined GE in 1997 as a Manager in Business Development at GE Lighting.  Before joining GE, Mr. Nagel worked at Energy Biosystems Corporation, Cannon Associates, Reid & Hostage and Strategic Planning Associates (now Mercer Management).
