NCPDP Foundation-Funded Research Links RTPB Tools to Improved Fill Rates for Patients Facing High Costs

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Oct. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- NCPDP Foundation grantee NYU Grossman School of Medicine has published new research in JAMA Health Forum examining whether real-time prescription benefit (RTPB) tools improve prescription medication fill rates. Although the study found no significant change in overall fill rates, researchers identified a plausible connection between RTPB availability and higher fill rates for the highest-cost drug classes, particularly among patients in the lowest-income group studied. Organizations with innovative research projects that can advance healthcare interoperability and improve patient outcomes are invited to submit a grant proposal for consideration. The NCPDP Foundation is accepting proposals in response to its current request for proposals (RFP) through October 23, 2026.
