Nearparent Launches Beta Version of Mobile Help Network for Kids
HELSINKI, April 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Nearparent Ltd., a mobile service provider, today announced that their help network service for children and teens is released in beta version for public use on Android phones. The application is available from Android Market and the registration is done at my.nearparent.com. The service is launched in all English speaking countries, but the application can be used anywhere on the globe. The service will be free of charge during the beta period. The application for iPhone will be released shortly.
The Nearparent service is designed to help families' everyday life and make it more care-free. The service allows parents to create a network of trusted individuals from their family and friends that can help their children wherever they may be. With the application kids can check-in with their parents every now and then and let them know that they are OK. If the kids have a problem, they can use the application to make an alert to their personal and trusted support network. Nearparent thus enables the sharing of parenthood, earlier common in small local communities - but now available anywhere and anytime.
Caring for children underlies the Nearparent business concept. In addition to helping families and kids in their everyday life, Nearparent is also a new means to raise funds for charities supporting child welfare. When the commercial version is launched later this year, every time a kid is helped with the service, a portion of the proceeds is donated to non-profit organizations. Nearparent already has the first partnership agreed with a major charity and is currently in discussions with several others.
"As parents ourselves, every day we face situations where we worry about our kids when we are not around them. With Nearparent we can have peace of mind that our kids are OK. If something is wrong, there's always someone to help our children, even if we are not there. What's equally important, Nearparent allows parents to help other children - either their friends' kids or less fortunate kids, through donations to good causes", said Topi Jarvinen, CEO of Nearparent.
