NEKAJUI, A RITZ-CARLTON RESERVE AND PANTALONES ORGANIC TEQUILA DEBUT AN EXCLUSIVE COCKTAIL EXPERIENCE

Pantalones Organic Tequila, co-founded by Matthew and Camila McConaughey, comes to Peninsula Papagayo blending Texas roots with Guanacaste's storied sabanero cowboy heritage

PENINSULA PAPAGAYO, Costa Rica and AUSTIN, Texas , Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Pantalones Organic Tequila, the award-winning organic tequila co-founded by Matthew and Camila McConaughey and Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, the ultra-luxury oceanfront resort set on Peninsula Papagayo, announce the brand's debut in Costa Rica with a custom cocktail program, The Cowboy & Mermaid collection.

Created uniquely with Pantalones Organic Tequila exclusively for Nekajui, The Cowboy & Mermaid is inspired by McConaughey's Texas roots and the sabanero cowboy heritage of Costa Rica's Guanacaste region.  The bespoke cocktail experience pairs that ranching spirit with the country's vibrant surf culture, united by a shared love of craftsmanship, fun, and adventure.

"We literally met over margaritas, and have been known to enjoy a paloma as well. Tequila was the juice on our lips when we first spoke the language of love," said Matthew and Camila McConaughey. "Bringing Pantalones to Costa Rica feels natural and Nekajui offers the perfect place to kick off your boots, sip tequila, and enjoy the view."

The menu blends regional ingredients and influences from Texas, Brazil, and Costa Rica and debuts across the resort's dining and beverage destinations, including Puna, the signature restaurant conceptualized by acclaimed Chef Diego Muñoz, Ámbar, a suspended treetop bar, Niri Beach Club, Cooper's, a hidden speakeasy and La Casona, the resort's lobby lounge.

The Cowboy & Mermaid Signature Serves Include:

• Guacachile – Pantalones Organic Blanco Tequila, mezcal, limón mandarina, agave, avocado, jalapeño, and Tajín. A vibrant textural take on the spicy margarita, balancing bright citrus, gentle heat, and creamy richness.
• Goiaba – Pantalones Organic Reposado Tequila, pink guava, agave, citrus, and guava salt. A refined guava margarita with lush tropical notes, bright acidity, and a delicate saline finish.  The cocktail pays tribute to a fruit celebrated across both Brazil and Costa Rica, offering lush tropical flavor balanced by bright acidity and a delicate saline finish.
• Tixos Old Fashioned – Pantalones Organic Añejo Tequila, cacao distillate, Costa Rican cold brew coffee, and spiced chocolate bitters. This reimagined Old Fashioned bridges the bold character of Texas with Costa Rica's iconic coffee and cacao traditions, creating a rich, layered cocktail with warmth, depth, and a lingering finish.
• Palomitas – Combining Pantalones Organic Blanco Tequila, Texas Ruby Red grapefruit, Costa Rican mandarin lime, coconut soda, and a signature popcorn salt rim, this playful take on the classic Paloma balances crisp citrus with tropical effervescence. The popcorn salt adds an unexpected savory note, while the name - Spanish for popcorn - offers a lighthearted tribute to one of tequila's most beloved cocktails.

"At Nekajui, we believe the most meaningful travel experiences reveal the spirit of a destination," said Cristian Albacar, General Manager of Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve. "Our collaboration with Pantalones has given us the opportunity to put a Nekajui twist on Matthew and Camila's favorite cocktails, paying homage to their Texas and Brazil roots while continuing to deliver the rare, immersive experiences that define a Ritz-Carlton Reserve stay."
