SALT LAKE CITY, May 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Nelson Laboratories (www.nelsonlabs.com) will showcase sterile packaging validations pertinent to orthopedics at OMTEC 2014, an orthopedic conference at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Chicago June 11-12. Nelson Laboratories will exhibit in booth 812.
In addition to the exhibition, Wendy Mach, packaging section Leader at Nelson Laboratories, will present Sterile Barrier Packaging: Common Causes of Failures and How to Correct Them in the Knowledge Center on June 11 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
"Our discussion will focus on the types of tests available to validate a sterile barrier system," said Mach. "Though it is not expected, failures can happen while performing these sterile barrier tests. This presentation will take a look at common failures within the tests, provide some understanding behind why the failures happen, and suggest ways to correct and avoid them."
In addition to Mach's presentation, there will be technical representatives at the Nelson Laboratories booth to answer questions orthopedic device manufacturers have about validating their devices.
Here are examples of the topics the representatives will be available to discuss:
- Properly assessing the manufacturing residue and cleanliness of orthopedic devices
- Biocompatibility testing for medical devices
- Reusable device sterilization and cleaning validations for medical devices
- Packaging validations
- Lot release testing
- And more
