Neurotech Pioneer Phantom Neuro Joins Amputee Coalition's Partnership Program

Phantom Neuro joins a national network of organizations supporting the Amputee Coalition's mission

WASHINGTON, Sept. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Phantom Neuro, a neurotechnology company developing minimally invasive interfaces for intuitive prosthetic control, today announced that the company has joined the Partnership Program of Amputee Coalition, the leading national nonprofit supporting people who have limb loss and limb difference.

Through its support of the Amputee Coalition, Phantom Neuro joins a national network of organizations helping the Coalition advance its mission to support, educate and advocate for people who have limb loss or limb difference. The community that Amputee Coalition serves is over 5.6 million Americans.

More than 5.6 million people in the United States live with limb loss or limb difference, according to research commissioned by the Amputee Coalition and conducted with Avalere Health. This includes about 2.3 million people with limb loss and 3.4 million people with limb difference. The Coalition notes that the total population is likely larger because the analysis did not account for individuals who are uninsured or receive coverage through Veterans Affairs or TRICARE.

Despite the size and diversity of this community, people who have limb loss and limb difference can continue to encounter barriers involving access to care, insurance coverage, mobility solutions, education, and long-term support. Addressing those challenges requires sustained collaboration among community members, advocates, healthcare professionals, researchers, policymakers and organizations working across the field.

Phantom Neuro is developing Phantom X, a minimally invasive muscle-machine interface designed to interpret the electrical signals generated when a person intends to move. The technology is being studied as a way to provide more intuitive control of prosthetic limbs and other robotic systems.
