AURORA, Colo., Nov. 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- American Sentinel University has partnered with Dr. Renee Thompson, one of the top professional development and anti-bullying thought leaders in nursing to debut a new blog series, 'Dr. Renee Thompson's Series on Nurse Bullying' as part of the university's 'The Sentinel Watch' healthcare blog.
The series profiles the roots of nurse bullying and conflict resolution as Dr. Thompson shares her professional insight on how to best address and eliminate workplace bullying.
"We are honored to partner with Dr. Renee Thompson, one of the most respected anti-bullying thought leaders in nursing today, to produce this important blog series for healthcare professionals," says Judy Burckhardt, Ph.D., MAEd, MSN, RN, Dean and Professor, Nursing and Healthcare Programs at American Sentinel University.
"Research has found that approximately 60 percent of new nurses quit their first job within the first six months due to the behavior of their co-workers. Almost half of new graduate nurses are concerned that they may experience bullying at a time when nurses play such a critical role in U.S. healthcare. It's important that we address this issue," says Dr. Burckhardt.
Dr. Thompson will provide two new posts each month that focus on nursing bullying and conflict resolution as part of 'Dr. Renee Thompson's Series on Nurse Bullying.'
"Nurses are among the most empathetic, caring, and compassionate human beings in the world. While workplace bullying is prevalent in the nursing profession, we each have the opportunity and ethical responsibility to swing the pendulum from 'eating our young' to supporting, nurturing, and growing each other," says Dr. Thompson.
The series' second post will debut on November 20.
