New Consumer-Centric Self-Checkout to be Introduced at NRF 2012

NEW YORK, Jan. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- ECR Software Corporation (ECRS) will debut a new generation of consumer-centric self-checkout robots during the 2012 National Retail Federation (NRF) Annual Convention and Expo.  Visitors to ECRS's "Elevating the Consumer Experience" showcase booth will be able to experience firsthand the ease-of-use, ergonomic design, and intuitive transaction set provided with this innovative self-checkout offering.

Two new robots will be on display, each formulated to achieve maximum functionality with a minimum footprint requirement, making the units ideal for urban markets, pharmacies, and convenience stores.  The robots are designed to be price performance market leaders with a special emphasis placed on consumer friendliness and usability. ECRS's intuitive, open platform, Java™-based QUICKcheck™, will provide the power behind the units making them adaptable to integrate with the most commonly installed point-of-sale systems.

Special features will be demonstrated, such as, the new patent pending LED Consumer Guidance™ system (LCG).  The LCG feature is designed to ease customer frustration, speed transactions, and reduce attendant workload with LED visual guidance indicators that navigate consumers through each step in the self checkout process.  Visitors to the booth will also have the chance to use the system's Patented "two-handed scanning" feature,  enabling consumers to scan multiple items before placing on the weight security bagging platform. Many more industry defining enhancements, designed to dramatically reduce weight security interventions, empower attendants, improve customer throughput, and simplify transaction flow, will be on display and ready for demonstration.
