About the Author:
Gale A. Buchanan is the former USDA chief scientist and under secretary of Agriculture for Research, Education, and Economics. He began his career as a teacher and research professor at Auburn University and later served as dean at the University of Georgia's College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. With 34 years of military service in the US Army and Alabama Army National Guard, his final role was commandant of the Alabama Military Academy. He has authored several books, including Unexpected Chef.
Leanne W. Chafin is married and a stay-at- home mom to four sons. A graduate of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College with an associate of science in nursing, she left nursing in 2008 to become the administrative assistant to Dr. Gale Buchanan. Leanne has helped publish six of his books. In her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking, baking, and gardening.
