New Directions Behavioral Health Hires Aron Halfin As Chief Medical Officer
Aron Halfin, M.D., will lead clinical initiatives and quality management that drive member health outcomes.
KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 26, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- New Directions Behavioral Health (New Directions) has named Aron Halfin, M.D., as its chief medical officer. Halfin will lead the company's care and utilization management teams, and help expand health care strategies, including clinical programming, quality and medical education. He is responsible for driving New Directions' member-centric vision by working to ensure all clinical and quality activities improve the delivery of care for members.

Halfin brings more than 30 years of health care management and clinical experience in psychiatry group practice, hospital and managed care settings. Most recently, he was vice president and national, medical, clinical and operations director for Anthem's behavioral health services. Prior to Anthem, he held leadership positions at Centene Corporation where he served as vice president of Clinical Operations and at Magellan Health Services where he served as chief medical officer of Health Plan Solutions and Public Solutions Groups. Halfin spent 11 years in private psychiatry practice with a focus on psychopharmacology of mood disorders and substance use disorders.
After earning his medical degree from the University of Costa Rica, School of Medicine, he completed his residency in psychiatry from Columbia University College of Physician and Surgeons in New York, and his research fellowship in psychopharmacology from New York University.
