New flights between USA and China's Hangzhou Begins July 13, 2016
New route provides easy access to the 2016 G20 Leaders Summit Host City
HANGZHOU, China, May 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- New airlift between San Francisco (SFO) and China's Hangzhou (HGH) begins July 13 by United Airlines (pending regulatory approval), providing easy access to this destination listed #16 on The New York Times' 52 Places To Go in 2016 list in the lead up to hosting the G20 Leaders Summit September 4-5, 2016. The new route will be the first trans-pacific service to Hangzhou operated by a U.S. airline and will take off three times weekly. United Airlines will utilize its new Boeing 787-900 Dreamliner for the service.
Beyond new airlift, Hangzhou continues to evolve with new hotel openings. In March 2016, the Midtown Shangri-La, Hangzhou debuted – the newest flagship and second Shangri-La hotel in Hangzhou, offering 417 guestrooms and suites, world-class dining and the city's largest pillar-less grand ballroom.
China's cultural heritage is celebrated at the new Folk Art Museum for the China Academy of Art. Designed by the celebrated Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, the museum's building honors the region's geological terrain as part of the surrounding natural environment. Famous Chinese silk tradition can be discovered at the China National Silk Museum, reopening in August 2016. The institution will serve as the largest specialized museum on textiles in China and the largest silk museum in the world.
