New Format Provides Summaries of AGA Clinical Guidelines
LAKE MARY, Fla., March 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Guideline Central and the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) are partnering to create and disseminate user-friendly versions of the AGA Institute clinical guidelines.
The AGA guidelines are evidence-based recommendations derived from systematic reviews of available medical literature that help guide clinical decision-making. As the quantity of available guidelines continues to increase, many clinicians have trouble finding time to keep up with the latest recommendations and best practices. Guideline Central and AGA are working together to solve this growing problem.
Beginning in March 2017, Guideline Central will release "pocket guideline" versions for many of AGA's clinical practice guidelines. The pocket guidelines are quick-reference summaries that synthesize AGA's full text recommendations into a brief, algorithmic format. The goal of the collaboration is to save time for clinicians, while making guideline implementation easier and more efficient.
The first pocket guidelines are now available, and cover topics such as irritable bowel syndrome, liver failure, IBD, constipation, pancreatic cysts, diverticulitis and more. Additional titles will be released as AGA publishes new guidelines and focused updates throughout the year. These resources will be available in a number of formats, including print, online and mobile (iOS and Android).

The digital formats will be freely available to AGA members, while non-members can purchase print and digital copies online at GuidelineCentral.com/AGA. Bulk orders and digital licenses will also be offered for institutions and other organizations.
