Launch of World's First Suspended Climbing Play Space of its kind and Wallenda Appearance Highlight Family Fun Fitness Festival at Center
JERSEY CITY, N.J., Nov. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Liberty Science Center's (LSC) new Infinity Climber, the world's first suspended climbing play space of its kind, will be unveiled on Saturday, November 22. Acclaimed aerialist Nik Wallenda, "King of the High Wire," will lead guests on the first official gravity-defying ascent in his first public appearance following his record-breaking tightrope walk across the Chicago skyline.
Suspended over LSC's atrium, the Infinity Climber dares guests to climb, crawl, and balance their way through endless pathways as high as 35 feet above the floor. The launch of the thrilling, multi-story climber will be celebrated at LSC with the Family Fun Fitness Festival.

Consisting of 64 platforms anchored to mammoth curved steel pipes, the 21,000-pound climber is cantilevered to the wall of LSC's three-story atrium, making it the world's first suspended climbing play space of its kind. Designed by Spencer Luckey, up to 50 children and adults can climb the structure at once.
"I've walked across the Grand Canyon, the Chicago Skyline and Niagara Falls, but I've never attempted something as unusual and interesting as the Infinity Climber," said Wallenda. The Infinity Climber's grand unveiling will headline the Family Fun Fitness Festival, which runs from noon to 5 p.m. on November 22. There will be musical performances, a "Just Dance 2015" dance party, an obstacle course, bovine heart dissections, a Teddy Care Clinic, and other hands-on activities for guests of all ages.
