New Leadership at Swedish Medical Center

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Jan. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- HealthONE's Swedish Medical Center is pleased to announce Ryan Simpson has been named the new Chief Operating Officer, effective February 13, 2017. Simpson will transition from his current role as COO at The Medical Center of Aurora (TMCA) to Swedish Medical Center, HealthONE's only Level 1 Trauma Center.

"Swedish is one of the fastest growing facilities in the Rocky Mountain Region," said Simpson. "To be a part of a rapidly expanding medical staff and hospital facility is very exciting."

The 408-bed hospital has more than 2,000 employees, 1,300 physicians, and cares for over 200,000 patients annually. The first hospital to be named a Comprehensive Stroke Center by The Joint Commission. Swedish just opened 18 additional neuro critical care beds in January. Swedish also opened The Burn and Reconstructive Centers of Colorado at Swedish Medical Center with a dedicated burn Critical Care Unit that specializes in burn care for patients of any age allowing parents and children to be treated in the same facility.

Ryan is a seasoned executive and he will play an integral role in our development."

Simpson has been with HCA since 2010 and during his time at TMCA, Simpson has led numerous development, construction and renovation projects across campus totaling over $70 million. Among the projects were the renovation of TMCA's perioperative services, intensive care unit, emergency departments, Saddle Rock ER, and the establishment of a behavioral health campus. 

An active member in the community, Simpson serves as the Chairman of the Aurora Chamber of Commerce and serves as the leader of the HealthONE COO Council. Simpson has a Master's in both Business Administration and Health Administration from University of Alabama and received his Bachelors from the Birmingham-Southern College. He and his wife, Johanna, have two children, and enjoy skiing and cycling.
