BLOOMINGDALE, Ill., Jan. 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Contract packager, Assemblies Unlimited (http://www.assemblies.com) has announced a working partnership with a company formed by a former Shark Tank contestant. Trina Barkouras, founder and CEO of Hoppy Paws, LLC, has called on Assemblies Unlimited to execute the next phase of her holiday-themed stamping business. As part of the arrangement, the contract packaging company will immediately provide packaging for powder used to create Easter Bunny paw prints.

As a result of her December appearance on the popular television show, Barkouras pitched and successfully brought her Shark Tank idea to market. Hoppy Paws' original boxed kit, Santa's Reindeer Hoof Print Stamp Kit enables parents to create authentic proof of Santa's visit, using a proprietary paste and stamp to leave traces of reindeer hoof prints on the floor. Assemblies Unlimited is responsible for packaging the powder for a follow-up stamp kit aimed at the Easter holiday, which helps parents use a similar approach to create realistic bunny paw prints for their children.
To package the powder, the contractor first uses form, fill and seal technology to produce 4"X 6" powder pouches. The pouches are made using clear, 3 mil PET roll stock, which is sealed on three sides and outfitted with a tear notch. "Our equipment can fill 30-40 of the pouches per minute," stated Len Shaw, VP Sales for the Western Region of Assemblies Unlimited, "each containing a measured batch of Hoppy Paws' secret powder." To make the "dirt" for the bunny prints, users combine the powder with water in a thermoformed dish, bringing together a paste for stamping the animal paw prints. Due in part to its flexibility, Shaw states Assemblies has seen pouching grow into one of the most market-critical packaging segments. And as materials and sealing techniques advance, pouches will continue to serve creative projects like Hoppy Paws stamp kits. According to Shaw, better films and consumer demand for convenient, ecologically conscious packaging are responsible for the spread of flexible pouches.
"We are thrilled to be working with Hoppy Paws, not only due to the Shark Tank connection, but also because the project lets us showcase various cutting-edge techniques and materials," shared Shaw. "In addition to the powder pouches, Easter Bunny Paw Print Stamp Kits each have unique stampers for creating prints." The paw print stampers are made from die cut pads - each resembling part of an animal's paw. The bunny print effect is created when users dip the paw print stampers into Hoppy Paws paste, and apply it to the floor near children's Easter baskets. "Close collaboration with inventors, designers and product developers eliminates surprises and carries projects all the way from early design concepts to fulfillment and delivery," says Shaw. "It is one thing to meet deadlines and create an efficient packaging supply chain, but standing out in the competitive marketplace also depends upon innovation and creativity shared between producers and their contract packaging partners."
