New PG&E and GM Energy Bundle Makes Home EV Charging Easier and More Affordable

SAN RAMON, Calif., Sept. 23, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) and GM Energy today announced the Smart Charge Bundle, a new, first-of-its-kind offering giving customers access to a home charger, smart-charging incentives, and support at Chevrolet, GMC, or Cadillac dealers across Northern and Central California.

A: PG&E and GM Energy are launching the Smart Charge Bundle. The bundle includes an EV charger at no additional cost and $15 in monthly bill credits on customers' PG&E bills after installation. The bundle is made available right at the point of sale when customers purchase or lease a new Chevrolet, GMC, or Cadillac EV at a participating dealership.

A: The offering makes home charging part of the EV buying conversation from the start. At the dealership, customers can discuss their charging needs, explore available GM Energy charger options, and complete enrollment in PG&E's EV Charge Manager program as part of the EV purchase or lease process. Customers can select a GM Energy PowerShift or PowerUp 2 home charger at no additional hardware cost, a value of up to $1,999. The PowerUp 2 charger delivers reliable everyday Level 2 charging, while the PowerShift Charger can be paired with GM Energy equipment and a compatible EV to support bidirectional charging, moving energy not only from the grid to the vehicle but also from the vehicle back to the home during an outage.

A: Through PG&E's EV Charge Manager program, participating customers can receive a $15 monthly bill credit and may save up to an additional $50 per month by shifting charging to periods when electricity costs and demand are lower. Managed charging automatically schedules the vehicle to charge during lower-cost periods while making sure it's ready when the customer needs it. Customers remain in control, able to override a managed-charging session whenever necessary. This is made possible by WeaveGrid, which is GM and PG&E's supplier for the software layer that optimizes charging and helps prevent localized strain on the grid.
