New Sam's Club Adds Value in Harker Heights

HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas, Sept. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Sam's Club will open its new Harker Heights location at 600 W. Central Texas Expressway following an 8 a.m. Grand Opening Ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 26. The membership warehouse club will give residents and small business owners the opportunity to access incredible savings on quality products.

Beginning with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, the Grand Opening will feature a number of special events and limited-time offers on select merchandise.

Grand Opening ceremony features local officials, special events
Before the club opens for business, Tovi will officiate a Grand Opening ceremony at 8 a.m. The event will feature presentations by Harker Heights mayor Mike Aycock and Chamber of Commerce president Bill Kozlik.

"Sam's Club will be a tremendous boost to our economy and will provide products our community would have to shop elsewhere to find," Aycock said. "The club has already provided support to our local fire departments and military families, and we look forward to a great future together."

During the Grand Opening, Sam's Club will showcase a variety of special events inside the club. A pumpkin carver will be onsite with a truckload of pumpkins for Opening Day. Other attractions will include Bulletproof Energy Drinks through Sunday, Sept. 29, and Chef Shamy's Gourmet Butters through Saturday, Oct. 26.

Opening Day visitors will also have an opportunity to meet retired NFL player Ed "Too Tall" Jones from 3 to 5 p.m., and former Dallas Cowboy Charles Haley will sign autographs from 3-5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27.

In addition, free health screenings will be offered Opening Day from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. as well as Friday, Sept. 27, and Saturday, Sept. 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Screenings will be given for assessing cholesterol, blood pressure, vision, hearing and a variety of other wellness areas.

As part of the Grand Opening celebration, Sam's Club will offer special savings on featured products. These limited-time offers will only be available Opening Day through Sunday, Sept. 29. Quantities are limited on discounted electronics.

New club brings 175 new jobs to community, Local giving
To staff the new Harker Heights Sam's Club, will require 175 associates.

"Everyone who's joined this team so far has made an excellent decision by choosing Sam's Club," Tovi said. "I started with the company 13 years ago as a cashier, and now I am managing this entire club. There are many opportunities that could be waiting for our new Harker Heights associates, too."

Grants to local organizations will be provided to celebrate the opening of the new club.

"My top priority in running this club is to serve the Harker Heights area, and giving back to organizations that are benefitting our community is one of the ways we're doing that," Tovi said. "We want our members to know we're a club of the community."

New club to feature array of members-only conveniences, health services
Measuring approximately 136,000 square feet, the new club will feature a variety of members-only amenities, including a fresh bakery, a tire and battery center, a cafe and a fuel station.

A number of health and wellness services are also available. The Sam's Club pharmacy, open to both members and the public, features many $4 and $10 generic prescriptions, as well as extraordinary savings on branded prescriptions. The optical center offers $40 off each additional pair of regularly priced prescription eyeglasses with the purchase of a complete pair of eyeglasses at regular price. Lastly, at the hearing aid center, premium technology in hearing aids and personal listening devices is available from a certified audiologist.

To further simplify their shopping trips, members can download the Sam's Club smartphone app, which allows them to create shopping lists, check their Instant Savings offers and learn about upcoming events at the club. The app is available for Apple, Android and BlackBerry devices.
